My paintings have an overarching restless energy that permeates their dense compositions.
Grounds and figures merge to depict a teeming internal world with an imperative to create,
connect and situate diverse elements.

I draw on the universal experience of the landscape. We all have encounters that produce
emotions, and we all have a desire to say something about that experience, but as the artist I
am compelled to express and share that experience. I take inspiration from Gordon Dalton’s
approach to his last works, making beautiful paintings even when beauty is not considered to
be very contemporary. “Art has always been the raft onto which we climb to save our sanity.”

My art translates the sensations and emotions I experience in the landscape into aesthetic
pleasantness, brightness, and colour. My interest in landscape comes from my desire for
effective communication with my adopted culture, and for which I have developed through
exploration, a style, a language of lines, shapes colour and marks. My compositions feature
diverse elements that can be described as a combination of gestures to be resolved in the
process.
With my art, I offer the viewer the opportunity of engaging in my perspective of my
surroundings; how I observe and translate what I sense and experience, and what I select to be
my world view. And to take them through my expression of energising imagery, part
representative, part subjective, bringing feelings and emotions through my work.
Painting is my language to express my sense of wonder; this language does not rely on the
certainty of words; it avoids the limitations imposed by their meanings. It represents my
strength or describes my relationship with nature.
I am also inpired by Peter Doig paintings, they captivated me from the first time I encountered
his work. In his “White Canoe,” the intensity of colour and visual texture creates a magic
scenery that evokes memories of the fairy tales I used to enjoy so much as a child; those
histories make my childhood extraordinarily enriching for my imagination
